The Swiss franc limits its decline against the euro
The franc yielded only 0.76% against the single currency this week, closing at 0.9172 (EUR/CHF). Trading within a narrow corridor since early May, the pair quickly rebounded off its 0.9100 support. Faced with global tensions boosting the franc's safe-haven appeal, the Swiss National Bank is stepping up its rhetoric. Its chairman is now threatening to intervene to cap the currency's appreciation. The franc thus remains caught between international demand and institutional constraints.
